Distance from the entrance to El Chaltén: 1100 m.

Distance from Comandante Armando Tola International Airport (El Calafate): 200 Km (2.5 hours by car or bus).

How to get there from El Calafate

If you come in a rented car, take Provincial Route 11 leaving El Calafate towards Río Gallegos. A little over 30 km you will reach the junction with Route 40 where you must turn left. A little less than 100 km after traveling Route 40 you will arrive at the junction of Route 23, which reaches El Chaltén after about 90 km.

On National Route 40, just halfway between El Calafate and El Chaltén, is the roadside stop "La Leona", where you can rest and have a snack. By bus you can hire one of the two or three daily frequencies (depending on the season) that connect El Calafate with El Chaltén.

If you want to arrive directly from the International Airport, without going through El Calafate, another option is to hire the direct private transfer service from the airport to your accommodation.
