Huemul glacier

This small glacier is the most reachable in the area, which is accessible in less than an hour from Punta Sur. This is the most sought trek for those arriving to the Lago Del Desierto and stay there for a short period of time. In the last 20 minutes of the trail you will have breathtaking views of the De las Vueltas river valley and the north face of the Fitz Roy mount.

Itinerary: From the free parking area in Punta Sur you have access to a private property where this hike take place, for this reason you have to pay a fee to enter. The trail quickly enters a beech forest and begins its ascent by a well-marked path. In just over half an hour you get to climb a ridge with panoramic views of the De las Vueltas river valley and Fitz Roy mount. Continue along the edge and in 15 minutes you will reach the beautiful Huemul lagoon, fed by the glacier of the same name.
