Description
The excursion begins at 5:00 p.m. at the gate of the Madsen House Museum, the meeting place with the guide. Visitors must approach the gate of the Museum House on foot, along a quiet and picturesque gravel path that skirts the Cordón de los Cóndores to the center of Estancia Fitz Roy.
At the gate you will be greeted by the guide who will give you an introduction to the stories and adventures that the Madsen family lived and the reasons they had for leaving their native Denmark to start a new life in this remote corner that is so magical, but at the same time so untamed and far from the rest of the world.
As you approach the house, you will observe the original construction that is still practically intact, with its walls raised with lenga trunks cut with an axe. The interior is made with wooden drawer boards, burlap cloth and newspapers of the time that they used as isolation layer. The House Museum exhibits different artifacts, tools and original furniture and a collection of black and white photographs that portray details of the life of these pioneers of deep Patagonia at the beginning of the last century.
You will share with the other visitors a cup of coffee or tea with sweet masses while the guide tells stories and anecdotes that will make you relive the history of the pioneers of this valley.
At the end of the visit, the spectacular horseride begins from the Madsen House Museum to the Estancia Bonanza for approximately 2.5 hours. along one of the paths traveled by those pioneers who populated these lands a century ago.
Mount Fitz Roy and the Rio de Las Vueltas will accompany you during almost the entire journey.
After fording the Del Bosque River on horseback, you will arrive at Bonanza, where a delicious Patagonian Lamb will be ready! (see Vegetarian / Vegan options).
At the end of dinner you will be transferred in 4x4 vehicles to the suspension bridge and from there the Minibus will take you to El Chaltén.
