Frequently Asked Questions

Private transfer and door-to-door (shuttle) services mainly differ in exclusivity, route, travel time and price. In practice, private transfer is the choice when comfort, speed and privacy matter most. Door-to-door shuttle is the usual option when saving money matters more than saving time.

It's exclusive: the vehicle is only for you or your group, you don't share it with strangers. It's direct: it goes from the origin to the destination with no intermediate stops to pick up or drop off other people. It's more flexible, with adjustable or on-demand schedules and, in many cases, the option to wait or make small detours. It's faster and more predictable, since travel time is just the actual drive, with no waiting or detours for other passengers. And it's more comfortable and personalized: it usually offers more privacy, space and, sometimes, extra services such as help with luggage or a child seat.

It's shared: you travel with other passengers heading in similar directions. It has stops: even though it picks up and drops off "door to door" -at hotels, homes or specific points-, the vehicle makes several stops to pick up and drop off people. It's less flexible, with more rigid pickup windows or schedules and a route that prioritizes several clients at once. It's slower, since total travel time increases with stops and possible detours. And it's less private, since you share the vehicle space with others.

A private transfer between El Calafate Airport or city and El Chaltén takes approximately 2.5 hours under normal road conditions, over a 215 km route. Travel time can vary depending on road conditions caused by weather such as strong winds or fog banks, and any photo or rest stops requested by the passenger. In winter, with snow or ice, travel time can be longer. Our drivers assess the day's conditions and prioritize safety at all times.

The range of services offered varies quite a bit from company to company. Use the "View company in detail" button to see all the details and get in touch or book your trip directly.

Sure. You can send your request using the "Send enquiry" button, indicating date, number of passengers, pickup point and destination, or use the "Chat on WhatsApp" button: your message will go directly to the private transfer company, with no intermediaries. We recommend booking in advance, especially during high season (November to March), particularly for flight arrival or departure times.

Yes, many companies offer transfers year-round, with vehicles prepared for local conditions and drivers experienced on snow- and ice-covered roads. On bad-weather days the trip can take longer and, in extreme cases, may be rescheduled for safety.

They seem to be the same thing, but there are differences: a remis (from the French "remise") is a chauffeur-driven vehicle used in Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Peru and Bolivia. It's a car with a driver that's hired to carry passengers over short or medium trips within a town, although it's sometimes used for long trips, or for several trips within the same area. The main difference between remises and taxis is that taxis are required to stop for passengers hailing them on the street, while remises are booked at an office or by phone. Remises, in turn, may not have a special color or a sign.
